I hate to throw away yarn scraps. I go through bouts of collecting scraps followed by periods of purging my messy workspace. To break this cycle, I sorted through my pile of odds and ends. I created these llama bobbins to organize and display my favorite yarns and threads!
There are two files. One has blank llamas that you can decorate! The other has pre- decorated llamas. Each page has 6 llamas each.
I printed out a page of blank llamas on kraft paper card stock and decorated them with a white gel pen. Because I’m working with heavier weight yarns, I glued two llamas together with white glue and left them to dry with binder clips. If you don’t have any binder clips on hand, you can always try using clothespins or carefully placing the llamas beneath a heavy book to dry. If you’re using these bobbins to store thread, one llama should be sturdy enough!
Materials I used:
- kraft paper card stock
- jell pens
- sharp scissors (I bought mine at the dollar store.)

I think these llamas bobbins would make an awesome gift for any crafty llama lovers in your life! You could also use them as gift tags or ornaments around the holidays.

Such a lovely great idea! thanks for inspiring us today!
Thanks so much! You have so many great diy ideas on your blog.
I saw these shared to a crochet fb group I’m in and knew I had to have them. I, too, hate throwing away my bits and pieces of leftover yarn so this is a great solution. The scraps that are too small to wind into a ball(or now a llama), I put in a clear “create a scene” scentsy lamp that I just love. Thanks so much for sharing.
That’s such a great idea. I love how pretty bits of yarn look when they’re displayed in glass. I’m sure your lamp looks awesome when it’s all lit up!
These are fantastic! This is just the sort of little thing I love to tuck in with pen pal letters. Thanks for an adorable project. 😀
Thank you so much! I’d love to be surprised with llamas in the mail. Thats a super cute use for these!
These are simply adorable! I like Lauren’s idea of tucking them into cards to send to friends. They’d also be super fun to add as an extra goody in swaps.
That’s a great idea! I’ve never done a craft swap but it sounds like so much fun. I’m going to make a few for crafty friends around the holidays.
I love these! I have been “Mama llama” since 2004 when my daughter’s friend lived with us and needed a name for me.
That is so sweet! I’m really glad that you like them (:
