All summer long I look forward to wearing fall clothes. I love the cozy layers and sumptuous textures that cooler weather allows. I’m a scarf and sweater fanatic.
When I first taught a friend to crochet, she was so excited that she exclaimed, “I’m going to save so much on sweaters this season!” Crochet stitches are a lot thicker than knit stitches making a crochet sweater a bit more difficult to wear (in my opinion). The reality is that it’s difficult to find crochet garment patterns that we actually wanted to wear.
This season I went on a mission to find crochet sweater patterns that I’d totally wear or make as a gift for a friend. I tried to pick out patterns that either embrace crochet’s thick stitches or work around them to create a garment that seems to drape beautifully! My favorite crochet sweater patterns incorporate open-weave stitches that lend themselves to fall layering.
Without further ado, here are the patterns!
(I don’t own any of these patterns or images. I’ve just curated a list of my favorite patterns made by talented crochet designers!)
