Giraffes are one of my favorite animals! Read on to find a free crochet pattern for a little giraffe applique.
Materials
These are the items I used to make this project:
6 mm safety eyes (these ones are only $6 for a set of 100!)
light yellow dk weight yarn
white dk weight yarn
brown worsted weight yarn scraps (I used this yarn)
Pattern Notes
- I switch up the pattern so that the overall shape is more circular than hexagonal.
- Join each round with a slip stitch at the end, begin each round with a chain one.
- The nose is worked in an oval.

Row 2: sc around (9)

Antlers (make 2 with brown yarn)
ch 4, turn, skip first ch from hook, 3 sl st
finish off and leave a long tail
Assembly
Sew on the antlers in the stitch next to the ears and weave your ends into the back.
Attach the nose to the lower half of the head. Use a fine tipped marker to add two black dots on either side of the nose.
Use a brown yarn scrap to make ‘fringe’ in two of the middle stitches.
You can use beads, felt, or yarn for eyes. I snipped off the ends of a pair of 6mm safety eyes and glued them into place.
The final step is adding some blush with a cotton swab and a pink marker.
Now this little giraffe is done! You can attach this applique to a card and use it as a gift topper. I think It would look particularly cute as an embellishment on a plain cup cozy. You could always make a few of these appliques and string them together to make a cute bunting for a baby shower.
